Free Knitting Patterns: Hats
Everyone loves a nice warm knit hat. With over 300 free hat patterns you're bound to find the perfect one for your next knitting project. A hat is a fun knitting project that doesn't take a lot of yarn or time. Knitted hat patterns can vary in their complexity, from simple beanies and toques, to complex lace slouches and cloches. Stocking Cap
Intermediate. Knit on Circular and Double Pointed Needles. US size 7 needles. I recommend using needles two sizes smaller for ribbing.
Gauge: 4.5 stitches per inch or 18.0 stitches per 4 inches.


Ridged/Ringed Cap
Beginner/Intermediate.
Gauge: 4.0 stitches per inch or 16.0 stitches per 4 inches.


Rolled Brim Cap
Beginner/Intermediate. Great basic hat pattern. Uses double pointed needles, as do most of these hats (you can do it!).
Gauge: 4.0 stitches per inch or 16.0 stitches per 4 inches.

Marsan Watchcap
Beginner/Intermediate. Nice hat for guy or gal.
Gauge: 4.0 stitches per inch or 16.0 stitches per 4 inches.

Ribbed Head Bands
Beginner. Looks even better in k2, p2 ribbing (use a multiple of 4 stitches). Make it on straight needles and sewn it up the back, for a beginner project. Use needles 2 sizes smaller than recommended for yarn for ribbing.

Beginner/Intermediate.
Gauge: 4.0 stitches per inch or 16.0 stitches per 4 inches.

Official Kitty62 Hat
Intermediate/Advanced.
Gauge: 4.0 stitches per inch or 16.0 stitches per 4 inches.

Adults Only Devil Hat
Intermediate/Advanced.
Gauge: 4.0 stitches per inch or 16.0 stitches per 4 inches.

Simplest Cap of All
Beginner. Worsted weight or bulky yarn.
Gauge: 4.0 stitches per inch or 16.0 stitches per 4 inches.
