My name is Lynn, and I live on a farm in central MO. Just a few short years ago, I began knitting, and KnittingHelp.com has been a life saver. Since we live too far from the nearest town with a LYS, I can't get knitting help every time I need it. Amy's videos have helped me out too many times to count.
It's great reading the posts on this forum. Since almost all of the women in my area crochet and do not knit, I especially enjoy coming here to read & post in the knitting discussions. All of you seem so very talented, and I like seeing pictures of some of the items that you've knitted.

Hi everyone! I'm Kathy and live in Florida. I have been crocheting off and on for over 35 years. My Mom was a knitter and tried to teach me how numerous times, all of which were unsuccessful. Well this past summer I was able to finally get the hang of it and am proceeding slowly. This looks like a great site!!

I learned to knit when 8 yrs. old. I'm left handed, but knit right handed. I have not ever ventured beyond straight knitting and purling...to chicken to try cables or anything more "exotic." Patterns for sweaters are scary, as I don't understand the instructions.

i have a pattern that says "slip stitch as if to purl". does anyone know how to do this? thank you so much in advance. i'm looking forward to learning lots!

Hey everyone!

I stumbled on this site a few days ago when I decided to teach myself how to knit.

One of my friends is an avid knitter and made these super cute fish hats. I want one, so I decided I would learn to make one for myself. My mom knows how to knit also, but we live several states apart. :(

Anyway, I am married to a Navy Chief and we have two dogs. I work as a veterinary technician at a small animal general practice. Besides learning how to knit, I enjoy running, getting together with friends, trivia nights at the local pub, karaoke, and hanging out with the doggies.

I look forward to getting to "know" everyone and learning a lot. I know there's a wealth of knowledge and wisdom here!

You stick your needle (with the newly knitted stitches) into the stitch as if you were purling, but slip it off the needle and onto the needle first mentioned.

Welcome to the forum!
To slip a stitch "as if to purl", just slide the stitch over to the other needle, with the right needle going into the stitch like a purl stitch (the two points facing each other).
To slip a stitch "as if to knit", slide the stitch over to the other needle, with the right needle going into the stitch like a knit stitch.
