Thanks ... I did try that to start with but found myself getting a bit muddled. However, I've learned a lot from this first garment and next time I will be more experienced and better prepared all round ...
I'm so glad you work has sprung back! Here's the KH video for picking up stitches which may make it easier next time. It really is a very nice technique to have and it really works very well.
Thank you ... I shall watch with interest as I've just ordered the wool for the next pattern and that requires picking up stitches too, Finally finished the first garment today and just have to sew the final parts together ... then planning to post picture if I can work out how you do that here ...
I see now how to do it. I was doing it wrong but having watched the video I can see how you do it neatly and at the same time create strong stitches ... thank you ...
Here, finally, is the photo of the gilet that I had trouble with, finally finished and worn ... and quite admired I'm happy to say ...
Thank you for all the help and advice. I'm now onto my second knitted garment ...
It is lovely! You did a great job! What I pretty much try to remember when pressing or not, if the yarn was at one time "live" ie cotton, wool, bamboo, etc that pressing is ok but if it is some type of manufactured yarn then just wash and dry.
