If you're ribbing you can try wrapping the first purl the opposite way to twist it. It doesn't show onthe outside of your work. It shows on the other side so it's not reversible.

In my experience the Denise was fine for flat...

In my experience the Denise was fine for flat projects, but not great for ML. Boye needles and the cheap circs you get from craft stores aren't either. The cables just aren't thin enough or flexible...

Nope, I only ML. I use 32" for a sock and 40" for hats. I've never knit socks 2 at a time or blankets so haven't needed one that large.
