mysterious extra *rows*
Hi - I've been knitting for a few years, so I like to think I'm pretty good at it. However, I just ran across something and am totally baffled. I'm knitting in stockinette, and somehow, (on the right side) I've just finished row 4 at the right end of the needle, and row 8 at the left end. Where did those 4 extra rows come from? How did I do that? Is this something that can be done on purpose?
Thanks for any insight. |
Just for clarification..you're using circs rather than straights? (needles)

Possibly you picked up your work and went the other direction. Is there a sort of hole at the point where there's 4 rows/8 rows?

straight needles; no holes...

You mean that as the work is now, there are 8 rows on one side and 4 on the other side? Sounds like short rows to me.

thanks - I've heard of short rows, but have never (knowingly) attempted them.
