rejoin yarn

Just picking up knitting after 20 years. And I am a little confused. Actually alot. The pattern ask to rejoin the yarn. How do I do this? Just tie it on.

Just pick up a yarn end and start knitting, leaving a tail to weave in later. You're 're'joining the yarn to the knitting.
