Do you really need to block socks? I was taught to knit them, but nobody taught me to block them:teehee: . Is it necessary? I wash them and do a stretch here or there and let them dry flat.

I've never blocked a pair of socks. I simply handwash and lay flat to dry.
I don't block them. I have skinny ankles and I'm afraid blocking would stretch out the ribbing so that they wouldn't stay up. I also just wash and dry flat.

I knit lots of socks and I don't block them when they are for me. I figure that's what my feet are for!!
I'll wash/dry on a blocker the rare times I make a pair for a gift, just so they fold up nice and neat. My sock blocker is just a wire clothes hanger bent to shape.

Ok, I will continue using my feet.:teehee: I do like the idea of blocking them for gifts though. Maybe will try a pair the next time I make socks for a gift. Thanks!:)
