new skein

Hi everyone in the knitting world. Just one question . I am ready to add a new skein of yard and I want to know the easies way to do so. Can I just tie a loose knot and leave about a 6 inches tail and weave it into the blanket after completion. I been having other knitter help me, but now i started to work it hard to fine the time to meet up with the knitting group. Is there a video/dvd to watch anywhere on this site about this issue.

I tie the ends together loosely, knit a few more rows, then rearrange the knot so it doesn't show on the front and tie tighter. I don't leave the tails so long though, a couple inches is enough.
