I am starting a sweater pattern and it calls for M1s on the right side....how do i know the right side?...Is the first row after the cast on your RS??Or is the second row your RS??

Pattern
(Raglan increases:

Work lapel sts in garter st. Work all other sts in stockinette. On every RS row, use M1 method to inc 1 st on each side of every seam stitch—8 sts total inc'd.
Inc in this manner on every RS row until there are 63 sts in the back section. AT THE SAME TIME, shape lapels as follows.)

Thanks for the help!!

Yes, usually the RS is the first row you knit. What I usually do is take a small piece of yarn and a darning needle, once I have gotten a few rows into the pattern, I use the darning needle to slip the yarn through a stitch on the RS in about the middle of the work. DO NOT tie a knot, just a small bow. At a glance this will always tell you which side is your RS and your WS.

Also, I'm not sure if you're talking about the garter section or the stockinette section, but in stockinette usually the right side is the side with the v's instead of the purl bumps- i.e. the side where you're knitting, not purling.
