Free pattern - Vintage Mesh Bag

Just thought I would share a pattern that I really love (and hope to modify in the near future).

The vintage mesh bag (http://fingersfancy.blogspot.com/2007/08/vintage-mesh-bag.html)! It is a wonderful idea where the bag actually folds into its own carrying pouch (see below)

Did you use a yarn or crochet cotton for the mesh bag? I have no idea what type of material to substitute for what is listed in the pattern. Yours looks lovely.
