stretchy stitch pattern?

my 15mo dd can say 'yarn' (sounds like 'yaw-own'- way cute) :cheering:
so, at michaels yesterday, she was having a blast picking up skeins and telling me they are yarn! and i let her keep a little skein of mercerized cotton from patons. i decided to make her little socks. i am almost done with the toes, and i think i should do a really good stretchy pattern to help keep the socks up. i don't want it too complicated either. any suggestions?:notworthy:

would a simple (*K1, YO, K2TOG, K1* round 1; *K all* round 2) eyelet be ok?

yes you could do lace top like that. would look sweet.
I have found cotton doesn't stay firm with a stretchy stitch, like rib, it just stretches out and goes loose, so lace would be nice with added elastic or cord around ankle to hold them up.

i was thinking it would look really sweet too :) she picked out a pretty orange, soft peachy with soft greens. it pretty!

Ribbing seems to stay up the best, but of course it's not as pretty or girly.
