Lace Pattern Question

I am making a Vogue poncho from the 'on the go' book.

The pattern says to Sl 1, k4, *p1, (k1,p1) in double yo, p1; rep from * to last 5 sts, end k5.

Why is the k1, p1 in parenthesis? I'm pretty sure you k1, p1 with the double yo strands when ever you come to them. Am I correct?

Yes, you'd do the k1, p1 in every double yarnover. The parentheses could be a typo; usually anything inside them is supposed to be repeated however many times, but that doesn't seem to apply here.
