I'm looking at starting the falling leaves socks (www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTfallingleaves.html) from knitty.com, and the pattern calls for a crochet cast on. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if the provisional cast-on (as in the one that Amy demonstrates in her video) is a suitable substitute? I'm pretty sure that these are essentially the same thing (i.e. getting the same results), but I want to be sure I'm not making a silly error. Thanks in advance.
