Right now I'm in the process of making a small purse and I can't figure out how to make a flap for it!! I want it to have a button closure and either be pointy or sorta curvy. Does this make sense...please help!!! websites are greatly appreciated or custom "designs"

You would decrease ever row or every other row. That's what I would do.

what's the difference between doing it every row vs every other row?

the biggest difference that i can see would just be how sudden the decrease would be.

Check Amy's decrease videos (http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/decrease.php) to see which ones you like the looks of....some lean right & some lean left.

I purchased a book on Saturday and there are directions for a flap on one of the purses. The finished size of the purse after felting was 14" wide by 12" high and not knowing the size of your bag, maybe you can convert the directions to suit your purse:

With RS facing, size 15 needles, and MC, PU 28 sts from back top edge. Work 10 rows in garter st

Next row: Work 3 buttonholes as follows, K4 (BO 4, K4) 3 times

Knit 1 row

Knit 2 rows, dec 1 st at beg and end of each row. BO all sts kw

I would consider using K2tog and SSK decreases.
