the directions said to cast on 40 sts and knit for 20 rows. i cast on 50 and i am knitting 40 rows. is this good?

Well, you added 25% to the width, and 50% to the length. Yo may want to increase both by the same percentage instead. But, HEY....bags dont have to be an exact science!

i suck at math... i thought they said that felting decreases the width more than lenth or is it the other way around? :thinking:

I dont remember....but, Im thinking they would have taken that into account in the original pattern, so an all-around percentage increase would be safe, I think.
